Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is a standard for business process modeling that provides a graphical notation for specifying business processes in a Business Process Diagram (BPD). The objective of BPMN is to support business process management, for both technical users and business users, by providing a notation that is intuitive to business users, yet able to represent complex process semantics.
The goal is to reduce the transformation effort from the business perspective into the technical implementation and to eleminate communication and specification gaps from business to IT.
A longterm goal of BPMN is to generate instructions which are readable by machines and which will be executed by software. With specialized software like process- or workflow engines a 1:1 transformation from model to code is envisaged.
With the support of BPMN combined with our „landscape philosophy“ ARCWAY Cockpit is ahead in the market, offers the known usability and low entrance level of modelling.
With the new realease of ARCWAY Cockpit in November 2012 we support BPMN version 2.0 with its collaboration diagram and extended notations.
