ARCWAY-Survey Requirement Management 2008/09: Business Requirements are not well received

The result of a survey of CIOs and IT managers of a total of 331 german companies with a revenue of more than 50 million euros can be summarised as follows:

In the interface between business and IT, the handover of business requirements for IT projects is mostly insufficient.

The majority of the questioned persons see the drawback caused by two central factors:

• differing views of the specialised and IT departments concerning projects, and

• unclearly defined to-be concepts.

Furthermore, there is a consensus that the poor handover of business requirements reduces the project success significantly.
